Joel is currently serving Mission 1:17 as the Resident Advisor (along with his wife, Quentella) at our Semi-Independent Living home for young men. Joel is an experienced handyman and has poured hundreds of his evening and weekend hours in renovating our first SIL home. Currently Joel is the Franchise coordinator for Handypro, Inc. and is invlolved with recuiting franchisees, training them, and ensuring their success around the country. Joel has been involved with Royal Family Kids Camp for the past several years and has a passion to advocate for children and youth who have no voice. Joel has many skills and talents he plans on sharing with the young men in SIL in order to help them become successful and independent.

Quentella Ambrose currently serves on the Mission 1:17 Board of Directors. Quentella has 25 plus years of professional experience which includes owning and operating a license Group Day Care Home for 13 years. Additionally she has taught both in the private and public school system, as well as being an adjunct instructor at Baker College in Allen Park, Michigan. In her role as educator, she has developed and implemented many new employee-training initiatives to enhance people’s skills for the achievement of organizational and personal goals. As an educator, Mrs. Ambrose is constantly seeking creative ways to foster a dynamic learning environment and to promote high standards of excellence for continuous learning improvement.

She is currently serving as a faithful volunteer of Mission 1:17, along with her husband of 14 years, as Resident Advisors of the Mission House. Quntella is also working with Christian Family Services as an Unplanned Pregnancy Counselor. She is currently a member of Brightmoor Christian Church located in Novi, Michigan and serves as a volunteer kindergarten teacher in the Impact girls ministry and is actively involved in the Women’s Ministry.

Quentella is a graduate of Spring Arbor University where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Family Life Education. She is also a graduate of the Word of Faith Bible Training Center and is a licensed Minister of the gospel. She is excited to serve as a volunteer for the Gift of Life, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Hospice Compassus , located in Southfield, Michigan. She is a member of the National Council on Family Relations, located in Minneapolis, MN. She has been involved with various trainings throughout the Detroit Metropolitan Area, including the DMC Siani-Grace Hospital Outpatient Diabetes Education Program and the Adventures in Caregiving Spiritual Care Services.
